For example how should the 3 burn trreatment be treated?
For all burns the first step is to stop the burning. After that, the treatment depends on the both the type of burn, the severity of the burn, & the body surface area involved in the burn. In general though, do not put any type of lotion or creme on the burn. Just cover it up with a dry, sterile dressing. If fingers or toes r burned, then be sure to place dressings in between the fingers & toes before bandaging the hand or foot. If it is a severe burn that covers a large part of the body, then call 911 & try to keep the person calm & warm until EMS arrives.
I have had my 1st Aid certificate for over 6 years, and we were told to always cool any all burns with cool running water to stop the burning.
So I am with Georgie on this one, her info is very informative.
All burns r treated the same, to stop the burning process.
If clothing has melted to the burnt area DO NOT REMOVE, as this will cause further pain, take more skin off, if not de-glove the victim. (I know someone who had his arm de-gloved because someone removed his shirt).
BURNS
Your skin is a protective barrier to infection, & any loss of skin, however small, is susceptible to infection. any burn bigger than a 50 cent coin, u must seek medical attention. If the burn is bigger than the casualty is hand then call an ambulance immediately.
Management of a burn
* Cool burnt area (minimum 10-20 minutes cold running water or until no further pain is felt)
* Remove jewellery
* Cover with sterile non -stick dressing
* Seek medical help urgently.
DO NOT
- Apply lotions, oily dressings (butter)
- Prick / break blisters
- Give alcohol to drink
- Over-cool casualty (shock)
- Use cotton wool, adhesive dressings etc.
on burn.
If u have no non stick dressing use glad wrap, it acts as a second skin & will also protect the skin from infection.
The reason why we;
Do not apply creams, Makes it hard for doctors to assess for the burn properly.
Do not break or burst blisters - Increase the risk of infection.
Do not give alcohol - Increase shock.
Do not use cotton wool or adhesive dressing - Is they stick to burn & hard to remove.
Edit
ALL BURNS must be treated immediately, with cool water. By giving immediate first aid before professional medical help arrives, u can help lessen the severity of the burn. Prompt medical attention to serious burns can help prevent scarring, disability, & deformity. Burns on the face, hands, feet, & genitals can be particularly serious.

Third degree burns really need to be treated professionally as they have damage only professionals can deal with. People with third degree burns usually die from that kind of burn (imagine being charred black in a fire). First & second degree burns r easier to treat. A first degree burn is basically a sunburn. A second degree burn is a burn with a (water-tye) blister, which u never want to pop. Just cover & use aloe vera (which u can also use in first degree burns). Never try to treat a third degree burn.
Maybe this link will help u http://firstaid.about.com/od/injuriesathome/ht/06_burns.htm
1st degree- ice or cold water to prevent swelling
2nd degree- same thing but for longer periods and more times throughout the day. You might have to wrap it with an ice pack.
3rd degree- hospital visit, no ice or water in the beginning beginning because it will hurt like hell. You have to treat the wound and cover it up to prevent infection. They might give you some special ointment to ease the burning sensation.
