Workplace First Aid Kits
According to ANSI Z308.1-2003, first kits that r to be used in a mobile and/or outdoor setting, must be of the Type III class. Type III first aid kits must be corrosion & moisture resistant, as well as impact resistant. Type III first aid kits must have a handle & a means of mounting them in a fixed location.
The minimum requirements for the contents of the Type II first aid kits r as follows:

All First Aid kits shall be kept in a conspicuous & marked location. Each complete first aid kits shall contain the following information, which is typed in at least a 6 point font.

All unit packages shall be labeled with at least the following information:
1. The name of the item shall appear at least on the top panel & one end panel,
2. The quantity contained,
3. Instructions and/or illustrations for proper use of contents
4. Name of manufacturer, packer, and/or distributor & place of business.
5. All unit packages shall be labeled in accordance with the requirements of the Food, Drug, & Cosmetic Act, & all other applicable state & federal regulations.
Unit packages shall include the following color code on at least one top panel & one end panel:
Blue - Antiseptics Orange - Personal Protective Equipment
Yellow - Bandages Green - Miscellaneous
Red - Burn Treatments
Recommendations & Precautions Concerning First Aid Kit Use & Maintenance
1. Items other than the required minimum fill contents & those recommended by a person competent in first aid & cognizant of the hazards in the workplace environment should not be stored in the kit. To ensure immediate access to first aid supplies, it is recommended that first aid kits not be locked.
2. It is recommended that the Occupational Safety & Health Administration regulation 29 CFR 1910.1030 for Bloodborne Pathogens be complied with when rendering first aid.
3. In addition to a first aid kit, each work location should have at least one individual available who is trained in first aid & CPR.
4. Tourniquets should not be included in general first aid kits. It is acknowledged that a tourniquet performs a role of last resort in the event of life threatening injuries (e.g., severe bleeding occurring due to amputated extremities) & should be administered only by a trained person.
